Getting Started

Step 1

Fill your system

Add clean, room-temperature water to your hydroponic system reservoir to within 1½” of the top.

The water level must not exceed halfway the seed sponge.

For best results, do not use well water or softened water, as these may have high alkalinity levels. Distilled water is best.

Step 2

Insert seed pods

Place each pre-seeded EZ-gro® pod into the growing openings.

Ensure pods sit securely and are fully seated.

Attach humidity domes over each pod to support early germination.

Step 3

Add nutrients

Add the included EZ-gro® Hydroponic Nutrients to the water reservoir.

Gently mix to distribute evenly.

Step 4

Set lighting system

Lower the grow light hood to the lowest position.

Turn on the system and confirm lights and pump are operating.

Keep lights close to plants as they grow and adjust upward as needed.

Germination & Early Growth

  • Most seeds sprout within 3–20 days, depending on the cultivar.
  • The germination time is printed on the seed pod label.
  • Your kit includes 2 extra pre-seeded sponges in case one of your pods does not germinate.
  • Keep humidity domes in place until seedlings emerge.
  • Once sprouted, remove domes to prevent excess moisture buildup.

Water & Nutrients

  • Check water levels regularly and refill as needed.
  • Add nutrients approximately every 2 weeks or as directed.
  • Always maintain proper water levels to ensure root contact.
  • The water level must not exceed halfway the seed sponge.
Reminder: Stable water level is one of the most important factors for good germination and strong early root development.

✂️ Plant Care & Maintenance

  • Prune regularly to encourage fuller, healthier growth.
  • Harvest frequently to promote continuous production.
  • Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves promptly.

Growing Tips by Plant Type

Herbs

  • Harvest often to promote bushy growth.
  • Trim just above leaf nodes to encourage regrowth.
  • Most herbs thrive with consistent light and moderate pruning.

Leafy greens

Lettuce, salad mixes

  • Begin harvesting outer leaves once plants reach usable size.
  • Avoid removing more than one-third of the plant at a time.
  • Keep lights close to prevent stretching.

Fruiting plants

Tomatoes, peppers

  • Require more light and nutrients than leafy greens.
  • May need light pruning to manage plant size.
  • Some varieties benefit from gentle pollination by lightly shaking the plant.

General Growing Tips

  • Keep your system in a room between 65–75°F for optimal growth.
  • Avoid placing near heating vents or cold drafts.
  • Ensure good air circulation around plants.
  • Clean your system between planting cycles for best results.

Between Grow Cycles

  1. Empty the reservoir completely.
  2. Rinse with clean water.
  3. Fill with water, 1½" from the top.
  4. Run the system for 5–10 minutes.
  5. Rinse thoroughly before replanting.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Do not let roots dry out.
  • Keep light positioned close to plants.
  • Use EZ-gro Hydroponic Nutrients, designed for hydroponic growing.
